Orangeman Burns - Sriram Sridharan's Blog

This is a blog about me, myself and things that happen around me. Visit sriraminhell for fun games, cool streaming songs and wicked reviews.. My main blogging interests include DIY electronic projects, hardware hacking, micro controller programming, GSM communication, travel photos, tech news and recipes. As you can see, my interests are varied and I strive not categorize my blog into a particular niche.

I got my 2.8" Touch LCD MP4 Player with an 1.3MP Digital Camera, Games, Loudspeaker and a 2GB built in memory yesterday. You know that I usually splurge all my money on new gadgets from DX. This is because they ship world wide for free and their prices are among the cheapest you'll ever find. Here's a small review of my latest acquisition:

Pros:
* Plays Divx, Xvid, 3GP and MP4 encoded videos
* Plays MP3 and AAC
* 2.8" touch screen
* Very responsive Touch Screen
* UI very iPhone like
*Good screen clarity
* Camera
* Comes with 2GB in built memory
* Uses Mini SD card and is expandable to 2GB
* TV out function
* Games
* Reads Ebooks[txt format]
* Has Auto Scroll for ebooks
* Amazing price
* Displays album art

Cons:
* Build can be improved
* TV out cable not supplied
* SDHC not supported
* No FM
* US type plug for power supply
* Earphones are made from crappily molded plastic. Hurts the ear..

Things to Remember:

=>Format the Memory card using the player before you use the card. Certain folders that are needed for proper functioning of the player are created.

=>To transfer data into the PMP
* Switch the player off
* Plug in the computer
* Switch the player on
* The PMP will then enter the USB mode.
* You can see two removable drives created:
1. The onboard memory.
2. The removable mini SD memory.

=> There's a stylus in the left upper side receptacle.

=> The mini SD card goes in label down

=> Music files go only in music, Ebook files in Ebooks and so on..

=> All the music files must be placed directly in the music folder.

=> If the Music/Video folders have any subfolders, the player just hangs.

hello.
I recently acquired a mini mp4 player similar to yours. Only I have a problem. When I try to play music with shuffle it only plays the first 250 (I have 900 musics). Do you have the same problem?

Well toni, I haven't tried my MP4 Player with more than 100 songs. But I can say that this was a common limitation with the older firmware of a Chinese manufacturer. I'll test mine out and let you know in a day. Cheers!!
